So...Portugal....
There is sooooo much to see and do in the Lisbon area!
Bairro Alto started to wake up at around midnight. Lots of bars, great atmosphere. A trip for teachers, maybe?:-)
The Alfama area is wonderful, the tram is really something which every one should experience.
On Saturday I did a tour called We hate tourism tours in an old bright yellow VW bus. It took in The Theives Market, Sintra, Cascais, and a load of other places.
Sintra castle gardens were like the Lord of the Rings meets Harry Potter, they would be a great place to lose a hundred students for at least half a day.
Cascais is very dramatic, there were very high waves. We stopped at a beach a few km away : I walked in the sea, and when I was walking in the sea back to the beach, I got hit from behind by a sneaky wave which nearly knocked me over! I had to take off my trousers and walk around in my boxer shorts until my trousers had dried.......I looked like a typical bright-white-skinned crazy tourist from England......!

I would recommend Lisbon ahead of Prague for tourists from England and the US. The atmosphere in Lisbon is more relaxed than Prague, the people were very helpful and friendly and didnt mind speaking English, the architecture is really nice and the night life is great. Its warmer than Prague, and Im not just talking about the weather.
